Animafest in Pula

From May 8th till May 10th Animafest is a guest of  Pula ECHO Fest, project of city Pula that presents most interesting culture manifestations from other Croatian cities.Presentation of an interesting selection from the Children Program, Late Night Screening and the Festival Poster Exhibition will bring Animafest closer to the people of Pula. Valli Cinema, the host of this manifestation,  will open it's doors on Friday, May 8th at 19:00 hours, with the Animafest poster exhibition and presentation of the following, 19th feature edition of the Festival.

During the Children Program the audience will be able to see one of the most popular films  Go West, a Lucky Luke Adventure directed by Olivier Jean-Marie-a and  Animafests  own children program film  Miraculous World of Animafest which is currently screening in China.

Night Screening edition will give the audience a chance to see some of the films that have entered this years competition, as well as the films that have already been awarded. One of the novelties is a film Sita sings the blues directed by Nina Paley,  that won the Best feature Award in Annecy last year. This film will be shown for the first time in Croatia on the Pula ECHO Fest.

Persepolis is a film of strong political engagement: the story follows little girls growing up during the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Persepolis was, among others, nominated for the Academy Award, and has won prestige awards such as BAFTA , Cannes and Special Recognition Award by Animafest 2007.

Along with the novelty and already awarded films the audience in Pula will be introduced to the animated film: Fear(s) of the dark: six graffiti artists omnibus (Blutch/ Burns/ Caillou/ Di Sciullo/ Mattotti/ McGuire) that interweaves different stories based on fears, phobias and nightmares...

The presentation will end with the 2007. Animafest Grand Prix winner, a film by Michel Ocelot  Asur and Amar: a story  transits all the cultural borders society makes. It worships friendship, imagination, hope and faith above everything else.
