Nikica Gilić (Split, 1973), associate professor, chair of the Section for Film Studies at the Department of Comparative Literature, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Zagreb. He graduated in comparative literature and English in 1997 and has worked at the Department of Comparative Literature since 1998. His PhD thesis in 2005 was »Film Genealogy and Typology of Film Storytelling«. Nikica teaches courses in film theory and film history at the Department of Comparative Literature and the Academy of Dramatic Art. He has participated at many international symposiums (Split, Zagreb, Zadar, Szeged, Berlin, Graz, Timisoara, Paris) and Croatian conferences (Zagreb and Rovinj), and was a guest lecturer at universities in Berlin, Regensburg, Konstanz, Graz, Zadar and Brno. Editor-in-chief ofCroatian Film Review, member of the Animafest Council and Croatian Film Critics’ Association. President of Zagreb film’s Board of Directors. Nikica Gilić acted as an artistic advisor for documentary film at Croatian Audiovisual Centre and as a jury member with several film festivals and forums (Pula Film Festival, Croatian Animation Days, Days of Croatian Film). He wrote and edited several books – e.g. Filmski leksikon (2003, co-editor Bruno Kragić) and Uvod u povijest hrvatskog igranog filma (2010; second edition 2011).
