Synopsis

Kyōgen stage/Eye specialist's examination room/Sushi counter. In each space two people meet. Their physical distance is contrasted by a flurry of emotions they each experience. Feelings of the most diverse kind, alternating between fear and fascination, tenderness and sanctuary, flare up and are immediately put into practice. I try to somehow blend and connect them.

Yoriko Mizushiri

Yoriko Mizushiri was born in Aomori, Japan in 1984. She graduated from the Joshibi University of Art and Design in Japan and has become one of the most prominent younger generation Japanese artists. In her animated works, she expresses textures using everyday motifs, such as parts of the body. Her films are dreamlike and sensual pastel studies of senses, focused on everyday pleasures and pain, embodied in the warmth of a bed, softness of a rug or human touch, pain caused by a prick, as well as tastes and smells, like coffee or cake.
