Mihai Mitrică graduated in 1997 with an MA degree in Public Management from the Academy of Economics Studies in Bucharest. In 2006 he founded Anim’est International Animation Film Festival, the biggest film festival in Bucharest and the only animation film festival in Romania,attracting 25000 people, serving as its director ever since.He participated in pitching sessions at international film markets (e. g. in Clermont-Ferrand,at the biggest short film market in the world, where he is also with the Romanian Short Corner promoting the latest short films among international professionals). He went through a special training in the field of animation (production, distribution, promotion) at the Cartoon Forum and various European animation film festivals. He served as a jury member at film festivals worldwide (Anima Brussels, Trickfilm Stuttgart, Animage Brazil, Fest Anča Slovakia, Brest Short Film Festival), and selected and curated shorts for various international festivals. 

Mitrică is an effervescent participant at film festivals around the world from Brussels to Teplice, from Tallinn to Ljubljana, from Stuttgart to Sarajevo and back to Bucharest, enthusiastic supporter of new projects on animation and encouraging bridges between Romanian animators or film directors and major film studios or production companies, occasional collaborating editor of Romanian cultural magazines, occasional though passionate biker in his spare time. Since 2011, he is a freelance producer of Romanian animation short films: The Scream by Sebastian Cosor, and currentlyproducig two other short animated films World War Cupand Aievea.
