Synopsis

The cartoonist Jung Henin has, in collaboration with the director Laurent Boileau, adapted his best-selling graphic novel about growing up as an adopted Korean child in a Belgian family. He is one of those 200 000 adopted Koreans spread around the world. Jung decided to return for the first time to South Korea, in order to breathe the air of his home country, tread the land of his ancestors, and maybe find traces of his biological mother. This trip of reconciliation with his roots and with himself shot as a animated documentary.

Laurent Boileau

Laurent Boileau worked for 10 years as chief operator and then as chief editor on many documentaries. His passion for comics and more generally on the graphic arts led him to make several films about the 9th art. On the 20th anniver-sary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, he developed an animated series for RTBF and curiosphere.tv. Alongside his work as a director, he has chronicled the outputs of BD on the news site actuabd.com and animated comics site of France Televisions.

Jung

Jung (1965, Seoul) was adopted by a Belgian family in 1971. He took the name of Jung Henin. After his studies in illustration at the academy of the Art Schools of Brussels, he began to illustrate short articles in Spirou and Tintin. His first volumes were published in 1991. In 2006 he published Skin Color: Honey, an autobiographical account in black and white for the editions Soleil.
