Sasha Svirsky (1980, Soviet Runo village, Stavropol, USSR) graduated in 2002 from Grekov Art College in Rostov-on-Don, Russia as a painter. He is a self-taught animator. In 2008, he began work as an independent animation film director. During this time, he has created more than 30 animation shorts. In his animation, he uses a method of improvisation and challenges stereotypes. His films twice have become part of the Berlinale Shorts competition and have won numerous awards at animation and short film festivals. He develops his artistic language by mixing media and continues to make graphics artworks, paintings, and collages. This art has been presented in some art galleries in Russia and abroad. Some of them were acquired by the Stavropol Art Museum in its collection. Since 2013 has been working in collaboration with partner and wife Nadezhda Svirskaia, and now is based in Moscow, Russia.
